REMEMBERING DUSTY . . .

[81] I was saddened to hear that Dusty Springfield is no longer with us. I can remember when the Beatles just burst on the scene and they mentioned that Dusty was one of their favorite singers. Those songs from the sixties like "Wishin' and Hopin'," "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" and "I Only Want To Be With You" have certainly stood the test of time. When I heard Dusty in Memphis I was completely knocked off my feet. That certainly has to be one of the classic records of all time! What a fantastic voice . . . what a beautiful soul!

[82] The world is a darker place today, following the death of Dusty Springfield. I feel as though I have lost a dear, old friend. I have been a loyal fan of Dusty's since late 1963, when I first heard her sing "I Only Want To Be With You." Her music and her memory will remain with me forever. To all of her millions of fans worldwide, especially those in the UK, my sincere condolences. Rest in peace, dear Dusty.

[83] As a child of about 8 years and up, I have listened to Dusty's music and I fell in love with it ever since. I am truly saddened by her departure and regret that I never got to meet her or see her in person. In my heart she will always be alive. I was very glad to have seen her music revived earlier this decade. She was an incredible artist and a creative genius. I admired her and will miss her deeply. My condolences to her loved ones and may God give us peace and serenity in this difficult time.

[84] I am saddened to hear of Dusty's passing. Her music was and is great. I know that the '60s and '70s were a magical time in my life and she helped make it that way. I still think "The Look of Love" is the most sensual song ever recorded. Thanks Dusty for all the great music. We will surely miss you.

[85] Dusty Springfield was one of my favorite singers from the 1960s. She had a very unique sound that was all her own. My favorite Dusty Springfield song was "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me". Other favorites were "Wishin' and Hopin'" and "I Only Want To Be With You". She will be greatly missed by her fans - w which I am one. They will never be another singer like Dusty Springfield. She was in a class by herself.

[86] Well, what can I say? The pain is bad; the loss is unbearable; but your pain is no more. God bless you and may the angels take care of you till we see you again. Your music will be played blasted in bedrooms around the world!!! Forever.

[87] Dusty was not only my favorite singer, but I feel like she was an important contemporary icon for me. I saw her perform in a small club in New York City almost 20 years ago, and it was one of the thrills of my life. I was in tears at the news this morning, though I had been anticipating this outcome for weeks. My own mother passed away from breast cancer at the same age as Dusty 10 years ago, so Dusty's death is a very personal loss that brings up very painful memories of another major loss in my life from this deadly disease. I will cherish all of my Dusty albums and memorabilia, and will share her music with my younger friends and relatives so that I can personally contribute to Dusty's wonderful music living on and on. With great and profound sadness, Sandy.

[88] I am extremely saddened by the death of this great singer. I knew she was ill and I wondered how I would deal with her passing. Now it's happened and I feel like I've been hit with a rock. I'm playing her music a lot in my head and on my CD player. I'm also very disappointed in the lack of media attention in America. I rushed home last night to watch the news, but there was very little mention. The media is obviously too obsessed with the tawdry Monica Lewinksy saga to pay much attention to anything else. It's a shame. I hope Dusty received more respect in England. My condolences to her friends and family, and may she rest in peace.

[89] What can I do except play her records all night? "I just don't know what to do with myself". R.I.P. Dusty.

[90] Love the site, and love Dusty. She will be missed but I know as long as I have her voice - on the albums and CDs - she won't ever be forgotten, not by me anyway.

[91] I have been a Dusty Springfield fan since 1960/61 - from the days of The Springfields - and have collected almost everything she ever recorded. My collection includes all her 45 rpm records and original albums. I continue to collect them to this day! I am very saddened by her passing, as I felt all my life that I really connected to her music, her persona, her story. She is an icon in my mind, and the most amazing voice ever to emerge from the '60s. I regret that I never had an opportunity to see her perform live. I also wanted to meet her in person. My only wish would have been that she could have been given more time. Dusty, her voice and recordings will never be forgotten.

[92] I am very much saddened to learn of the death of Dusty, one of my all-time favourite vocalists. However, I am thankful to her for all that she shared with us. I consider myself fortunate enough to have had an opportunity to listen to and love Dusty's music. She will always be #1!

[94] I don't know who you are, and of course I'm too choked to read your site right now, but thank you for this forum. Like so many others must have done, I've already put down my personal tribute on my own site, which is listed below. A bit of all of us died last night, and though separated in place, we are united in our love and in our memories.

[96] Dusty's voice is pleasing God and all His angels today and forever more. But it will always be here in my heart. That voice echoes back down the years and gives all who loved our Dusty the great memories that she and her music will bring to us always. Thanks Dusty Girl. May you sing in Heaven forever. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

[97] I was young when Dusty was young; sad when her life was in turmoil in the States. I grew old with Dusty, and I am going to miss her. I know that death is only a doorway that we all pass through, but the physical loss is often very difficult to come to terms with. God bless you Dusty.

[98] I am saddened by the passing of Dusty Springfield's untimely death. My prayers go to her family, friends and fans. I remember her as a child and I was thinking about last week only to hear about her death. She touched millions of people, young and old, with her lyrics and voice. She was one of the great female entertainers.

[99] Just found out Dusty passed away. She was a lovely lady to look at and to hear sing. I've had a crush on her since I first heard her sing during the British Invasion of the 1960s. I enjoyed her and her music very, very much!! I will miss her.
