REMEMBERING DUSTY . . .

[201] Dear Dusty, you will be sadly missed. I have grown up with you from your very beginnings and I can't believe you are not with us anymore. You will never be forgotten and I will always play your songs. The lyrics are so full of meaning that I often pick out certain tracks relating to how I feel when listening. I do hope you are on your "Island of Dreams" now.

[202] I will miss you, Dusty - your voice, your sentiment, and your ability to pour your soul into a song. You are our loss, but Heaven's gain. Your fan for years, Tony.

[205] I started listening to her music because I enjoyed it very much, everyday more and more. I began to search her discography [and] found the richness of her '60s and early '70s recordings . . . I listen to her songs almost every day, and I have been doing this for several years. In some way she (or at least her voice, her songs) became part of my life. Although I knew she was ill, I cannot realize she's not in this world anymore. I have read that she has suffered in different ways during many years of her life, and after a long illness she is now in peace. I don't know what to say. I'll go on listening to her music every day, and I'll feel accompanied by her voice. Dusty, you have left to all the world your wonderful music - FOREVER!!!

[208] No matter what I try to write here, it doesn't quite convey the depth of both my sorrow and gratitude . . . Though tears may continue to fall, they're not solely tears of sorrow. When I think of the decades of love and enjoyment I've derived from listening to that beautiful reedy voice . . . well . . . I must find solace in the legacy of inspiration that's been left behind. I truly know that her impact on me has been profound. She will remain with us always . . . This proves that the human spirit CAN truly be divine . . . Rest in Peace, Dusty. Love, Richard.

[209] Hearing your music brought back memories of the psychedelic sixties in Notting Hill, when your songs played non-stop, day and night. You were a part of our life and will be in our hearts forever. Goodbye, Golden Songbird. Incidentally, whatever happened to Stevie, Diane and the others who were around Dusty at that time? Are any of them still alive? If so, would like to hear from you - reyllo@webtv.net

[212] Dusty Springfield's passing should be viewed as "SWEET FREEDOM" for someone who deserved more than she got throughout her life as one of the top female singers ever to grace the music scene. Her tenacity, talent, and inspiration assured us that when we turned on the radio we would be blessed with an exciting and everlasting sound. She will most definitely be missed by those of us who truly loved what she did for us with her music. God bless Dusty Springfield.

[213] It's sad to realize that one of my favourite singers is dead. I have been listening to Dusty since I first heard her back in '64. She had a great voice. Thanks for the music!!

[214] I really liked and enjoyed Dusty Springfield's music. She had a unique style with great emotion and force. Although I did not meet her in person (I was only a toddler in the '60s) I saw her on T.V. and I thought she had strong stage presence. Some singers had copied or sang her songs, but I always thought she did the best. I only wish I could have met her! In memory, Dusty.

[216] I think this site is very well done. Everything was easy to access and it's full of great photos. It's very sad that Dusty has passed on. I'm glad I came to this site to get more information on her. She is a great singer and we're fortunate to have had her here.

[218] I'm SHOCKED! I had no idea that Dusty Springfield had died last week. I just found out about it by reading messages on the Burt Bacharach website. Here in the U.S., the news media hardly mentioned it, and if they did, they probably reported it as a footnote. All I can say is that there will be no one who will sing "The Look of Love" like she could. Her voice blended so well with that saxaphone that it didn't sound like a voice, but a beautiful, sexy, well-tuned musical instrument. Her voice sounded that way on just about every song. To me that's the true test of a real vocalist, when they can make their voice sound like a musical instrument. I'm sorry Burt Bacharach and Dusty Springfield never got a chance to work on some new songs. I will truly miss her and I will remember her always, every time I hear that sultry voice from the Casino Royale soundtrack. Job very well done, Dusty.

[219] I was deeply, deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Dusty Springfield's death last week. I only learned about it a couple of days afterwards, having been down with a bad flu. We shall never, never hear such a distinctive, passionate, and beautiful voice and style like Dusty's on this earth ever again! I was in the midst of collecting her old CDs, and recently bought a copy of her video, Full Circle. I am just disappointed that there wasn't too much written or said about her here in the States. She will remain one of the best of the best singers who ever lived!
