The Eden blacksmith shop was started by George and Anna Wurzinger in a building purchased from Martin Opitz about 1920 and was operated by them until George's death. According to history Anna helped her husband in his shop and they repaired as many as 17 wheels in one day. Anna would remove the rims and George heated them using flax straw as the fuel. Then they would carry the rims with tongs from the forge and straighten them out and put them back on the wheel. Bolts were used to fasten them. A lot of work was done in the early morning hours as it became quite warm during the day from the heat and the heat in the shop. The building is now owned by Terry Michlitsch and is used to store boat, pickup and other materials. It still has a few pieces of equipment left in it that were used by the Wurzingers.
