October 29, 1884 Joseph Wagner filed a complaint with Douglas County District Court for nonpayment of loan. Complaint was sworn before Geo. L. Treat.
October 29, 1884 A summons was delivered to Elizabeth Bruckheuser.
November 28, 1884 Judgement was issued by H.K. White, Clerk of District Court, in favor of Joseph Wagner after no answer to complaint was received within 20 days after summons was issued. August 4, 1887 Geo L. Treat, attorney for Joseph Wagner, deposed that the St. Paul, Minneapolis & Manitoba Railway Company had property belonging to Elizabeth Bruckheuser.
August 4, 1887 The St. Paul, Minneapolis & Manitoba Railway Company was ordered to appear before H.K. White, Esq., Clerk of Court, in his office in Alexandria, Minnesota at 11AM on Monday, August 29, 1887.
August 5, 1887 Deputy Jos. Culross delivered a summons to George H. Roe, acting ticket agent for the St. Paul, Minneapolis & Manitoba Railway Company at Alexandria, and gave him $1.12 for attendance and mileage. Deputy Culross also delivered a summons to Elizabeth Bruckheuser. (Sheriff's fees: service - $1.00, mileage - $0.20, service on defendant - $1.00, total - $2.20)
August 29, 1887 11 AM hearing was adjourned until 3 PM. Nelson, Treat & Gunderson were the attorneys for Joseph Wagner. H. Jenkins was the attorney for the St. Paul, Minneapolis & Manitoba Railway Company. Geo. H. Roe, agent for the railway gave sworn testimony before H.K. White, Clerk of Court. He said that no money was owed by the railway to Elizabeth Bruckheuser. He said that Wm. Bruckheuser was the 12 to 15 year old son of Louis and Elizabeth Bruckheuser. He said that Wm. Bruckheuser billed the railway on the last day of every month for boarding its employees, and that money was deducted before the employees were paid on the 20th day of the month following the performance of work.
October 6, 1887 The St. Paul, Minneapolis & Manitoba Railroad Company was discharged from liability by Hon. L.L. Baxter, judge.
