April 9, 1884 Joseph Wagner loaned $65.00 to Casper Keller and Elizabeth Bruckheuser at 7% interest for 6 months at Millerville, Minnesota.
October 29, 1884 Joseph Wagner filed a complaint with Douglas County District Court for nonpayment of loan. Complaint was sworn before Geo. L. Treat, attorney with Nelson, Reynolds and Treat.
November 6, 1884 A summons was delivered to Elizabeth Keller at Casper Keller's residence in Leaf Valley, Minnesota.
November 7, 1884 A summons was delivered to Elizabeth Breuckheuser at the Village of Alexandria, Minnesota. (Both summonses were delivered by Douglas County Sheriff John C. Thorstad. Sheriff's fees were: service - $2.00, copys - $0.40, mileage - $4.20, total - $6.60)
November 28, 1884 Judgement was issued by H.K. White, Clerk of District Court, in favor of Joseph Wagner after no answer to complaint was received within 20 days after summonses were issued. (Bill of Costs and Disbursements as sworn by Geo. L. Treat, attorney: Loan amount - $65.00, interest - $3.00, serving summons - $6.60, clerks fee - $4.00, 2 affidavits - $0.50, total costs and disbursements - $11.10, grand total - $79.10)
January 9, 1885 Sheriff Ole J. Urness was ordered to collect on the judgement from the personal and, if necessary, real property of Casper Keller and Elizabeth Bruckheuser. Order was issued by L.W. Collins - Judge of the District Court. (With $1.30 in additional costs plus any sheriff's fees.)
January 13, 1885 Sheriff Ole J. Urness took into his possession, as the property of Casper Keller and Elizabeth Bruckheuser, two steers of black color "4 years old next spring". Sheriff also served a copy of "Executions and Inventory" on Casper Keller and Elizabeth Bruckheuser.
January 16, 1885 Sheriff Ole J. Urness posted notices of time and place of steers' sale in "three of the most public places in the Village of Alexandria"
January 17, 1885 Steers were taken from Sheriff Ole J. Urness' custody after being served a writ of Replevins by Deputy Coroner A.J. Ames.
January 31, 1885 Execution returned unsatisfied by Sheriff Ole J. Urness. (Fees: 2 services - $2.00, 2 copys of writ and inventory - $1.00, mileages 90 miles - $9.00, 3 notices - $1.50, mileages 2 miles - $0.20, hired helper - $4.00, keeping said property - $2.00, total - $19.70)
