Lucas [Lukas] Deutsch:
Lucas Deutsch
from the Marshall County History book
Lucas Deutsch was born in Austria in 1857 and was the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Deutsch. Michael was born in 1825 and died
in 1899. Lucas was married while living in Austria but his wife
died and they had one daughter, Caroline (1879 - 1957). Afterwards
he married Mary Kundarufer in Austria and to this union two sons,
Frank (1882 - 1966) and Henry (1886 - 1966) were born in Austria.
Mary Kundarufer was born in 1850 in Austria. In 1888, Lucas and
Mary and the three children, Caroline, Frank and Henry came to
Marshall County and homesteaded about five miles east of the
present town of Eden. Three more children were born to them --
Mary (1888 - 1911), Rose (1890 - 1959) and Joe L. (1892 - 1968).
Caroline married Andrew Halbauer, Frank married Mary Orslan.
After her death, he married Theresa Orslan. Henry never married
and farmed with his brother, Joe L. Mary married Carl Fleischhacker
but she died within a year of her marriage. This had been a double
wedding with brother Frank marrying Mary Orslan. Rose married Ted
Halbauer and Joe L. married Anna Sattler. Lucas and his family
were engaged in small farming and raised cattle. Lucas died in
1927 and Mary died in 1934.
